The Challenge - All Facebook, No Video

Kurt found all his customers through Facebook, but had never used video to promote his business.

Lighting strategy:

  • Backlighting to give steel surfaces a hard rim of light and depth.

  • Hard light outside the garage door, angled to mimic sunlight pouring in.

  • Fog machine to catch the light and give sparks a metallic shimmer.

The garage lighting turned out perfect, especially the foggy backlighting, and the sun seeming to come through the window.

The setup made the mower blade and knife sharpening sequences cinematic and eye-catching.

Kurt was nervous about being on camera, but I coached him through each take. By the end, he was relaxed, and his personality came through.

The Results - 27,000 Views & Daily Calls

Within weeks of posting just three of the five videos:

  • 27,000+ Facebook views in Allegan, Holland, Grand Rapids, and Kalamazoo.
